BREAKING... Buhari Scammed Nigeria With Fraudulent Launch of Nigeria Air - House of Reps

The House of Representatives has described the purported launch of Nigeria Air at the twilight of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as a fraud. Nigeria Air is a proposed airline and flag carrier in Nigeria. The name and logo was unveiled at the Farnborough Air Show in the United Kingdom in July 2018.

The Nigerian government was planning to launch the airline by the middle of 2023 with a 5% stake, while the remaining 95% will be owned by private investors. The airline is expected to operate domestic, regional and international routes and compete with other airlines in Africa.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji, declared that the whole process of the launch of Nigeria Air was fraudulent, as the major stakeholders in the deal between the Federal Government and Ethiopian Airlines denied knowledge of the launch. Members of the committee were shocked when Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) disclosed that the aircraft bearing Nigerian colours was on a chartered flight to Nigeria.

The managing Director Nigeria Air captain Dayo Olumide has confirmed that the unveiled Nigeria Aircraft launched by the Administration of Muhamadu Buhari was a chattered aircraft from Ethiopia hired for few days to show case the logo to Nigerians and their shareholders. He added that, the particular aircraft that was unveiled was not registered and came into Nigeria with a few days clearance from Ethiopia and was returned after use.

The Ministry of Aviation claimed Nigeria Air was only unveiled and not launched, which the committee dismissed as an attempt to divert the lawmakers’ attention.
