Nollywood Mourns as Veteran Actor Don Brymo Uchegbu Dies at 56
The Nigerian movie industry, popularly known as Nollywood, has lost one of its finest actors, Don Brymo Uchegbu, who died on Wednesday night, June 14, 2023. He was 56 years old.
According to reports, the actor died in his sleep after suffering a partial stroke and high blood pressure. He was on a movie set in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when he slumped and was rushed to the hospital, where he gave up the ghost.
Don Brymo Uchegbu was a versatile and prolific actor who had featured in hundreds of movies since he joined the industry in 2000. He was known for his roles as a royal father or a traditional leader in many epic and contemporary movies. Some of his notable films include "My Beloved Daughter", "Snake Battle", "Land of Fire", "No Mercy", "My God Never Sleeps" and many others. He also produced, wrote and sang for some of his movies.
The actor hailed from Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. He was married and had children. He was also a mentor and a friend to many of his colleagues and fans, who admired his talent, professionalism and charisma.
His death has sparked an outpouring of grief and condolences from the Nollywood community and beyond. Many actors, directors, producers and fans have taken to social media to express their shock and sadness over his demise. They described him as a legend, a gem, a star and a hero who will be greatly missed.
Some of the celebrities who paid tribute to him include Harry B Anyanwu, Mayor Ofoegbu, Zubby Michael, Ken Erics, Yul Edochie, Chika Ike, Ini Edo and many others. They prayed for his soul to rest in peace and for God to comfort his family and friends.
Don Brymo Uchegbu will be remembered for his contribution to the growth and development of Nollywood. He will also be remembered for his infectious laughter, his unwavering support and his ability to light up any room he entered. He was indeed a rare talent and a great personality who touched many lives with his work and his presence.
