Tinubu Meets with National Students’ Bodies

This afternoon, the leadership of some of the prominent student bodies in the country met with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. The groups consists of representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the National Association of University Students (NAUS), the National Association of Colleges of Education Students (NACES) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

Theirs was a solidarity visit and to commend the president for the signing of the Access to Higher Education Act into law and his proactive active approach towards the resolution of the issues raised by the fuel subsidy removal.
On his part, the president reiterated the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and social justice through meaningful inclusion in governance, affordable access to quality education, and the creation of gainful opportunities across all sectors of the economy.

Okaka Ojoto Bows Out at 63

Annie Okonkwo, a former senator and industrialist, has died at the age of 63 after a long battle with a terminal illness. He reportedly died in the United States, where he had been receiving treatment. His death was confirmed by a family member, who spoke to Vanguard on condition of anonymity. Okonkwo was a former lawmaker who represented Anambra Central senatorial district in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2011.
