We Want Results in Security - Shehu Sani

Terrorists raided some villages in Niger state, north central Nigeria, on Sunday, killing 25 farmers and abducting others. The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have plagued the region in recent months.

In some parts of Kaduna state, peasant farmers have to pay terrorists to enable them access their farms, according to local sources. The farmers are facing threats from various terrorist groups, including Boko Haram, ISIS-WA, JNIM and ISIS-GS, who operate across Niger's porous borders with Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.

Shehu Sani had called for immediate result in the area of security. He noted some stpes that was taken by the immediate past administration which had yielded no fruits.

The past government has tried several strategies to combat the insecurity, such as dialogue with the terrorists, appeasing them with cash, shutting down telecom services, banning the sale and use of motorcycles, banning mining activities, carpet bombing, extending tenure of service chiefs, holding endless meetings with security chiefs, encouraging self defence and prayers against terrorists. However, none of these measures have yielded significant results.

Security challenges should be an urgent and top priority for this administration, as Nigerians demand an end to the bloodshed and kidnappings that have become a daily occurrence in some parts of the country.
